Until Ferrari builds a Wagon, this is it!
The 740 was introduced in early 1984, around two years after the more luxurious 760. The 740 was available as a four-door sedan and a five-door station wagon.
The cars are know for their massive interior space, great seats and ergonomics and ofcourse their harsh, clean geometrical lines, penned by Jan Wilsgaard. The radical design makes the 700 series a car you either love or hate. It is a self-assured, but never macho, statement of the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. Very Scandinavian indeed.
Volvo USA had outstanding ideas with regards to their advertising in these days. With strong concepts for both print and for television, comparing their family Estate’s, or Wagon’s in the States, with the best sportscars from that era.
